Let's face it, the cars we drive today are a computerized fuel injection marvel. When the check engine light turns on you need someone capable of checking more than just the code the computer stored. Many check engine light problems are caused by defective sensors in your fuel injection system or emission control system and sometimes it's even a simple tune up problem. A tune up is still part of your scheduled maintenance along with fuel filters and air filters and these items are normally preformed at service intervals to prevent problems in your computerized fuel injection system so the likelihood of a check engine light is minimal.

Today's automatic transmission have also become very complex computerized drive train components, with electronic shift timing and shift feel all being controlled by computers. These components require special tools, skills and knowledge to be able to repair them accurately.

At least one thing that hasn't changed that much in the last 20+ years is the standard transmission, but with the designs of front wheel drive cars the differential unit is part of the transmission and in some cases requires special oils to lubricate the gears. The clutch unit that couples the engine to the transmission is made up of five components, the flywheel, the clutch disc, the clutch pressure plate and the pilot and release bearing. All clutch jobs preformed at Protech gets the flywheel resurfaced or replaced in some instances, a new Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate with new release and pilot bearings. If you follow this rule and don't cut corners you will get a clutch job done right that will last as long as the factory clutch did.

The brake systems in our vehicles have come a long way. With the technology of antilock brake systems and traction control, the brake system have become a very sophisticated part of our cars. With these new high tech brake systems it makes it even more imperative to maintain your brake system with low cost simple brake flushes and quality brake fluid.
